Because this location is located next to the historic grain silos on the old train tracks (right below the new DART train tracks!), we went with a vintage feed store theme. You’ll find burlap on the walls, and John Deere colors inside the huge dining and bar area, complete with two pool tables. Come in and stay a while.
My favorite is Lots of Shroom with buffalo meat. Great burger, really great burger. What I like most about TRB is the consistency. I have never had a sub par burger. Each visit returns the same great experience and I love that there are so many locations now. Go for the fried green beans as a side.
I have loved loved loved Twisted Root for quite some time, but I never knew there was one so close to where I worked until recently... As I expect from the twisted root, they always have perfectly cooked burgers with great toppings. I introduced my coworkers to their green bean fries and you'd have thought they'd never eat a day in their lives. Best part of our last trip was the 'seasonal' rootbeer they have in their soda fountain. I don't know who they get to concoct that stuff, but its one of the only sodas I'll drink. Count me as a regular customer!!
This is a really great place to enjoy a burger, a cocktail, a beer, a milkshake, a soda, etc. The burgers are big, juicy and cooked to perfection. There is something about a flat top grill that makes burgers better. The fries are hand cut, the onion strips are battered lightly and fried. Oh yeah, they have a pickle bar. They have 4 varieties of pickles in a big jar. You can fish out whichever flavor makes you happy. They give you a name card when you order, and call you out using a clever line that's kind of corny, but it's nice to be Jack Daniels for a day! There are sports on tvs everywhere, families, folks on dates, and hard working people all enjoying a fine burger. They offer some exotic meat choices, but I stuck to good ol American beef. I have been there twice and have had a great meal, served by people who seem to enjoy their job. You can't get much better than that! This place screams America!!!!
Twisted Root is one of my favorite burger places, and downtown Carrollton is an ideal location. If you go on a nice day, they open the garage-door windows and let the outside in. All the burger recipes are enticing, and everything I've tried comes out great. Be sure to try the ancho-chipotle ketchup; it's hard to improve on regular ketchup, but this recipe does the trick. Also, the BBQ sauce at your table is amazing. Hit the pickle bar while you wait, and don't be afraid of the Atomic Pickles. I'm like 80% vegetarian, so I usually get the black bean burger, which is spot-on. But I've had the beef and even the venison, which are both delicious and medium-rare if you order them the way they were meant to be served. Finally downtown Carrollton has a restaurant that might give Babe's some competition.
